A 1-million square foot, $70 million speculative building is planned near the Ohio Turnpike in Shalersville that is expected to bring 375 jobs with a payroll of $15 million by 2026.
Brad Ehrhart, president of the Portage Development Board, and representatives of Geis Companies in Streetsboro presented plans for the massive structure to commissioners, who approved a 15-year, 100 percent tax abatement for the project.
Shalersville trustees have approved the tax abatement, Erhardt said, as has the Crestwood School District. Commissioner Sabrina Christian-Bennett said a $70 million building is proposed, with an estimated 375 employees earning a combined total of $15 million by 2026.
